  1. A film that stays with you…

there is only one thing that personally bothered me a bit, it's choosing Kim Shin-Young to be in this film, it threw me of the film and the depth of it, of course she did a wonderful job, nothing against her acting she can do everything , she's very talented and charismatic, but because she is such a well known comedian and did a lot of variety shows I couldn't help but think that it cheapened the film a bit, so sorry.

  2. A stunning film. The cinematography is astounding. A true piece of film noir, and very deep. A must-watch!

This film has it all, Drama, Crime, Mystery, Romance, and Thriller!
A twisted, "modern" romantic thriller that includes obsession. Never seen anything quite like it & you just don't know which way it will turn!

Such a profound ending and closure that is often lacking in so many films today.

    A 5-star film.

  3. Saw this the other night. It takes a bit of getting into, but once it did I really liked it. I don't think its as good as some of his other films, but I really got into the style of it, and how it subverted the genre. The leads were great too. I like how he did something different with a genre with seen plenty of times.

  4. I have just watched the film at Curzon Bloomsbury, London. It is a very beautiful and poetical film with dream-like atmosphere. It is the most poetical film I have seen for the last few years with the possibility of personal interpretation. I just love the film. All actors and actresses are also physically very beautiful, captivating my eyes.

  5. Absolutely loved every second of this movie. I going to watch it for the 2nd time today and this time in a theatre. I might some hidden msg or metaphor used in the 2nd viewing!! Maybe not for the male audience who is more into hollywood type fast action, suspense, thriller. This movie is far from it.

  6. I finally saw this film yesterday. Here's my opinion on it, without spoilers: It was a different kind of PCW film – no revenge, no bloody violence – but the structure of the plot I thought was classic PCW. If the plot is all over the place, then it's a PCW film. But DTL is not similar to Oldboy, the Handmaiden, or Mr. Vengeance. I thought the cinematography and the acting were tremendous. And Tang Wei did a fantastic job. I'm glad she's getting the recognition she deserves, after China (and Hollywood) kept giving her terrible roles. Not to mention China blacklisted her because they hated her role in Lust, Caution (another great film of hers, and also her debut role). Anyway, out of all the PCW films I saw, Decision to Leave sadly isn't a favorite of mine. He made better films, but DTL by all means isn't a bad film. It's still good, and I recommend it.
